General description

 

  1. Education at the Doctoral School is offered in Polish or English for the entire period of education, on full-time mode and lasts 8 semesters.
  2. Education at the Doctoral School prepares PhD students for the Doctoral Degree in the disciplines
  3. As a result of education at the Doctoral School, the graduate achieves learning outcomes in the knowledge, skills and social competencies in line with Level 8 of the Polish Qualifications Framework.
  4. The education at the Doctoral School ends with submitting a PhD dissertation to the Board for the Awarding of Degrees in Arts and Sciences of the JDU or any other entity authorised to award a doctoral degree in a given discipline.
  5. The main goals of the studies at the Doctoral School include:
  • acquiring knowledge of the global scientific and creative achievements in the discipline or disciplines in which the doctoral dissertation is being prepared and the resulting implications for the practice;
  • acquiring the ability to perform an analysis and a creative synthesis of scientific and/or artistic achievements to identify and solve research problems as well as those related to innovative and creative activity;
  • acquiring the ability to create new elements of scientific and creative achievements, independent planning of own development and inspiring the action of other people;
  • active participation in the exchange of experience and ideas, including the international environment;
  • acquiring skills in social competencies, moving towards increasing the existing scientific and creative achievements, taking up challenges in the professional and public sphere, taking into account their ethical dimension, responsibility for consequences and shaping the models of the proper conduct in such situations;
  • preparation of a doctoral student to work as an academic teacher or researcher.
