RECRUITMENT SCHEDULE 2024/2025 – TURN II

DISCIPLINES LITERARY  STUDIES

Online Candidate Registration System (OCRS) into the Doctoral School in the disciplines literary studies

The candidate registers in the Online Internet Recruitment System (OCRS), makes the payment to the individual account generated for each candidate in the OCRS and places the complete set of required documents in an electronic version (scans).

Detailed information can be obtained from the Doctoral School Office by calling +48 34 3784 341 at 9:00-14:00 according to the duty schedule (information provided on the website of the Doctoral School and in the catalogues of individual disciplines).

The fee should be credited to the university's account (generated by the OCRS) by 13.09.2024.

A candidate applying for admission into the Doctoral School is obliged to put in the OCRS a PHOTO (in a .jpg file), which will be used for the ELECTRONIC PHD STUDENT ID (more information of the technical requirements can be found on the individual candidate's account).

Submission of documents at the Doctoral School

After electronic registration, the candidate submits the following documents to the Office of the JDU Doctoral School by the date specified in the enrollment schedule:

1)     Application for admission to the Doctoral School, printed from the OCRS, addressed to the Rector and indicating the chosen discipline, complete with the candidate’s consent to the processing of personal data, also printed from the OCRS. The candidate’s personal data is processed and stored for the purposes of enrollment in accordance with applicable legislation and are subject to adequate protection;

2)     CV;

3)     A photocopy (original to be inspected) or a certified copy of the diploma of completion of a second-cycle course or a long-standing master’s degree together, with a supplement or, in the case of this year’s graduates, a certificate of the result of the thesis defence issued by the Dean’s office of origin;

4)     A foreigner from outside the Member States of the European Union is required to submit a legalised or apostilled diploma of study abroad, which gives the candidate the right to apply for a doctoral degree in the country of issue. If the diploma and supplement are in a language other than Polish or English, a sworn translation into Polish must additionally be submitted;

5)     A foreigner enrolled to follow a programme of study in Polish shall submit a document confirming knowledge of the Polish language at a minimum B2 level (certificate of proficiency in Polish issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language at B2 level or higher, or a diploma of graduation in Polish). In the absence of a relevant document, language competence will be verified by a language exam;

6)     A proof of a minimum B2 level of English proficiency is required from a candidate enrolled for a programme of study in English. Candidates receive confirmation of their language skills during an interview. In the absence of a relevant document, language competence will be verified by means of a language exam. Applicants who have completed their studies in English (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) are exempt from the language examination requirement. University’s Recruitment Committee of Doctoral School resolves any doubts regarding the recognition of an English language certificate;

7)     A recent photo that meets the requirements set out in the OCRS;

8)     An opinion of the applicant and their suitability for scientific/artistic work, issued by a member of staff holding a post-doctoral or professorial degree in the relevant scientific/artistic discipline not more than 12 months before the date of submission of the documents;

9)     A description of the planned research/artistic/design project, prepared on the appropriate form (Appendix 4 to the JDU Doctoral School Enrollment Rules), including the following information:

a.      The purpose of the research (definition of the research problem to be solved as a result of the research and formulation of research hypotheses; justification for undertaking the research, based on the innovativeness of the research and the impact of the results on the development of the researched issue, both in Poland and abroad);

b.      Research methodology (identification of the research methods that the doctoral candidate intends to use in the planned research project);

c.      A presentation of the current state of knowledge concerning the subject matter of the study, together with the primary literature of the subject.

10)  Approved documentation of previously obtained scientific/artistic/design achievements, grouped accordingly to component 2 (S2) - § 5(5);

11)  Declarations constituting Appendix 5 to the Rules for the Enrollment of Candidates to the JDU Doctoral School:

a.      Whether the JDU Doctoral School is the only doctoral school at which the candidate will be trained;

b.      Whether or not the candidate already holds a doctoral degree;

12)  Confirmation of payment of the enrolment fee.

Delivery of incomplete documents within the prescribed period shall mean resignation from the recruitment process to the Doctoral School.

In the case of sending documents by traditional mail, the date of receipt by the university is decisive.

The exact dates, times and place of interviews will be found in the catalogues of individual disciplines.

The interview will be related to the planned research project based on the prepared presentation and general issues related to the chosen discipline.
