First-degree studies (6 semesters) are intended for people interested in chemical sciences. The educational objective in the first-degree chemistry studies includes obtaining knowledge and skills in the field of general chemistry issues and related fields, based on the foundations of mathematical and natural sciences. The graduate has knowledge in the field of modern chemistry and shows proficiency in the specialty. He/she is also ready to start research in the specialty and to comprehensive analysis of chemical processes. He/she can solve chemical problems by applying of contemporary analysis and using of modern analytical equipment. He/she has also the ability to work in a group and knows the rules of organizing and managing teamwork. He/she has knowledge in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development as well as knows the legal, ethical and economic principles of the professional work. The study program is enriched with issues related to economy and entrepreneurship in a small and medium-sized company and managing of innovative projects, what provides the graduate to develop own business in the chemical sector. Moreover, the graduate is ready to undertake second-degree studies in the field of Chemistry.
- specialty Drug Chemistry – the study program of this speciality, in addition to subjects providing chemical education, enables to gain of extended knowledge and skills regarding methods used in the synthesis and analysis of drugs, drug design as well as methods of obtaining medicinal substances.
- specialty in Chemistry in forensics allows you to acquire extended knowledge and skills in the field of forensic chemistry, the ability to work with modern analytical apparatus and equipment, and the use of computer equipment and its use in professional work. The graduate is able to use analytical methods and research procedures, apply chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques in practice, as well as interpret the results of analyzes and draw correct conclusions based on them.
The graduates of the 1st degree Chemistry will obtain an interdisciplinary education:
- in the field of chemical sciences, related natural sciences (mathematics, physics), as well as biochemistry and materials engineering, at a level that allows the graduates to meet the requirements of the job market and to work in the various branches of chemical industry, as well as at modern and advanced technical workplaces of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries,
- covering the knowledge and skills in the field of synthesis, purification, separation, analysis of the composition and determination of the structure of chemical compounds using classical and instrumental methods, especially useful in the work in research and analytical laboratories of chemical and medical profile with modern and advanced equipment,
- covering knowledge of the principles of occupational health and safety, rational and safe use of chemicals and legal regulations in the field of chemical management,
- covering the knowledge and skills in the field of interpretation, presentation and documentation of the chemical experiment results,
- covering the skills of creative thinking and solving problems that may occur during the professional work.
