- Theoretical philosophy
The accepted 1st degree/bachelor study program in the field of Philosophy insures attaining comprehensive fundamental knowledge in the canons of Philosophy.
The program contains specialized philosophical knowledge, imbedded and correlated with general humanities knowledge gained through specialized subjects and electives which represent varying branches and disciplines of the liberal arts. This liberal arts education is supplemented with a component of social science appropriate to the content of the learning outcomes which relate to the latter range of learning. The gained humanities and social science knowledge enables graduates not only to orient themselves with philosophical issues, but also understand the comtemporary world, the evolving civilizational changes, and comprehensively grasp cultural events identifying within political, economic, artistic, moral and social layers.
The studies last for 6 semesters and result in 1st level qualification for a bachelor of arts degree in Philosophy.
Realizing the learning outcomes anticipated for the bachelor student of Philosophy prepares the graduate for the presently difficult work marketplace. The graduate gains, besides education relating to history of Philosophy and traditional philosophical issues, basic knowledge in areas of social sciences and individual areas of culture (language, art, religion, politics and science), and skill and competence regarding social communication which enables professional activeness in various areas of community, curture and politics.
Finishing bachelor Philosophy studies delivers knowledge, social skill and competence essential for such intellectual activities such as the art of argumentation, conducting dialog, or shaping the basis of a world view. The graduate also gainsd the capacity of independent management of accumulated knowledge.
With the support of gained knowledge and skill, the Philosophy graduate is able to interpret philosophical ideas in their historical context and relate them to the current cultural condition. The graduate is able to correctly explore contemporary philosophical issuestaking advantage of subordinate field of Philosophy – history, logic, ontology, epistemology, ethics and esthetics. The graduate is oriented with philosophical tradition: is aware of the most important concepts, trends and opiions; is able to interpret basic issues relating same to selected specific issues. The graduate masters the base for interpreting philosophical text and has skill in understanding foreign texts; possesses basic methodologies for research work in Philosophy and work in professions requiring critical, interpretive and argumentative competence; is prepared to undertake second degree/master studies which can be continued at Jan Długosz University, or other qualified institutions.
The social competence of the Philosophy graduate is the focus for creative ability, critical thinking, and skillful formulation and expression of opinions. Gained knowledge about humanity and its socio-cultural surroundings enable the graduate to analyze the human condition based on morality, religion and world view. Knowledge and skill adopted from various scientific disciplines allows the graduate to apply said attributes in specific interpersonal and social situations; is able to formulate appropriate argumentative strategies and organize convincing responses to criticism; possesses knowledge of the premises of axiological constitutive structures and social behavior, is oriented with the norms of social nature and paths of influencing human behavior.
The educational content prepared for this study program insures meeting the learning outcomes required by external stakeholders.
The above given graduate profile is specifically shown in its accomplishments of the didactic process for its learning outcomes with regard to knowledge, skill and social competence.
The graduate of the Theoretical Philosophy specialization possesses expanded knowledge and skill in the area of classic and contemporary philosophical concepts tied to the specialization; is able to analyze and take advantage of philosophical ideas in cultural and social processes; exploits philosophical knowledge in specific situations of characteristic issues for a give community; applies the possibilities of humanistic reflection in various social interactions; identifies relations between contemporary philosophical ideas and cultural transformations.
RECRUITMENT OF FOREIGNERS FOR FIRST-CYCLE STUDIES IN ENGLISH
Documents required upon application
When registering, a foreign candidate for first-cycle studies:
- fills in a personal questionnaire form,
- submits a scanned copy of their Polish high school diploma or its foreign equivalent, along with a translation into Polish done by a sworn translator, bearing an apostille or subjected to legalization, and an additional translation into Polish by a sworn translator (Education tab),
- provides an electronic photo in .jpg format (photo compliant with the requirements for issuing personal identification documents),
- submits a scanned document confirming their English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level (Education tab - Certificates and other documents required for enrollment).
If the candidate does not possess a language proficiency document in the language of instruction, they may request a language proficiency verification. To do so, the candidate must submit the application by the deadline of - 16.09.2024. The application should be filled out, signed, scanned, and then sent through the IRK system using the Help tab. - specifies the foreigner status in Poland and provides a scanned copy of the relevant document (e.g., valid Polish Card, supplementary protection status - UKR, permanent residence permit) (Foreign Candidate tab),
- enrols in the chosen undergraduate program by submitting their recruitment application (Recruitment Applications tab),
- makes the required recruitment payment to an individual account within the specified deadline according to the recruitment schedule,

According to Article 40 § 4 of the Administrative Procedure Code of 14 June 1960, "A party who does not have a place of residence or habitual residence or a registered office in the Republic of Poland, another European Union Member State, the Swiss Confederation, or a European Free Trade Association (EFTA) state - a party to the agreement on the European Economic Area, if they have not appointed a representative for conducting the case residing in the Republic of Poland and are not acting through a consul of the Republic of Poland, is obliged to indicate a representative for deliveries in the Republic of Poland."
• Insurance: All foreign students must have valid insurance for at least the first year of study in Poland, covering medical expenses up to EUR 30,000. The insurance policy, agreement, or certificate from the National Health Fund or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) serves as proof of insurance.
• Statement from the legal representative of a minor candidate for studies (applies only to minors): Minor candidates must obtain consent to participate in the recruitment process from their legal representative - parent or legal guardian. Failure to provide consent is equivalent to not participating in the recruitment.

Document translations:
All documents prepared in a language other than Polish should be translated into Polish by
- A sworn translator of Polish (the list of sworn translators from the Polish Ministry of Justice is available at LINK);
- A sworn translator from the EU (if there is an institution of sworn translators in the respective country);
- An RP consul competent for the country where the document was issued, or within whose legal system it operates;
- An accredited diplomatic representation or consular office of the country where the document was issued.
The translation can be done by a translation agency, but it must be certified by a Polish diplomatic mission or a sworn translator. Translations certified by a notary are not accepted.
Tuition fees
According to the Rector's Order, the tuition fee for foreigners studying in full-time programs in the English language is PLN 6600 per academic year, payable in two instalments.
Accommodation
Foreign students who submit an application can be provided with accommodation in the "SKRZAT" Student House - www.skrzat.ujd.edu.pl. The monthly fee is PLN 490 per person for a double room, as specified in the Rector's Order at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa.
